Next, we discuss those surrounding walls. Would removing one open up the space? Could we add some natural light with clerestory windows? Or maybe adding some textural detail like board and batten wainscoting will make the room more warm and welcoming.
About the flooring. Is it time to replace the carpet? Perhaps grey herringbone hardwood or hand-scraped wood planks would feel more contemporary or charming.
And don’t forget to look up. A re-imagined ceiling can make the room appear larger and brighter. Coffered, vibrant colors or printed wallpaper up above…can match your style.
